On-line games have continued to advance with the developing technology. Earlier versions used modems that were, before the internet. Earlier than that, these games used the hard wired terminals that were available before even these modems were introduced.
Online gaming has had quite a range from the text based games to those games that usually incorporate the use of graphics and virtual worlds. This has made it easier for people since they dont have to buy this application so as to be able to play games. Browser games usually use web browsers that use the html and html scripting technologies. Other complex games that would require multiple players would have to make use the web server is able to provide the required environment for such kind of gaming. Most web games were created in the 80s and they usually used flush plugging that was available on the web pages. This plugging has changed considerably since then and other developments have been created. This are the likes of Ajax based web browsers which have come in handy. This Ajax application has helped to solve the problem of multiplayer logging simultaneously onto a particular game. This has improved the interaction of people who play this web game also and has helped to retain the people in these games through providing better services to make the games appealing and interesting to the players. Another type of application is the MUD that creates the real time virtual capability and can be used for both the text base and graphical games.
