I should know. I spent almost 12 years coping with daily headaches, trying what I thought was everything possible. After using more Advil than needed, to the point where they no longer "worked," I gave up and just kept dealing. When CT scans showed that there was "nothing" causing these annoyances, I learned to ignore the headaches. Little did I know, the answer to my problem was under my nose the whole time. I started Chiropractic School, and after a few months of care, I noticed that it didn't hurt to study, and that I could focus in class a bit easier. It was after a solid week headache free that I knew I was in the right place, and that I HAD to share this thing called an adjustment.
I learned that I was placing too much tension on my spine, in the form of:
* improper posture,
* poor sleeping habits (never sleep on your stomach!)
* overall stress.
I learned that if you don't have proper alignment in your spine, it strains the spinal cord and the nerves heading to/from the body, so the surrounding muscles do not get the appropriate input, which causes them to become tense and uncomfortable, which in turn brings on the headaches. After regular adjustments to realign the spine, and therapy I began to notice a major decrease in my aches...the "Miracle" that is Chiropractic. (I know...way too much science/neuro stuff, but it helps to understand what is going on in your body that leads to these headaches.)
People always ask, "So do you ever have headaches anymore?" Unfortunately, I have to answer Yes, but when I go from all day every day to a handful a month, I'll take it! I know that this post has been all about me, but I always find that if you know someone who has been on the same path that you are on, the fact that they understand what you are going through makes the journey that much easier! If you have headaches or migraine headaches that won't go away, perhaps chiropractic care would be the answer for you.
